Give Us A Call, Maybe? Since most universities give potential students direct access to their admission representatives (USC included), many more students have taken taken advantage of the opportunity. But, remember that the act of contacting your admission counselor is its art that is own form. There is a stability between being genuinely inquisitive. Check out guidelines to think about when contacting your territory supervisor:

DO contact us if you are confused about our application process and are in need of some guidance.

DON’T email us just to express hi. Your email needs a purpose.

DO contact us when you yourself have question about a specific major. USC has 150 majors and 150 minors; being able to demonstrate your knowledge and fascination with your scholastic interest is one thing we appreciate, but we also know numerous choices can be confusing.

DON’T over-communicate…CONSOLIDATE! We would rather answer several well orchestrated emails than numerous individual questions.

DO remind us if and when we have met in the past. We meet tens of thousands of students each year and appreciate when students don’t assume we remember the conversation we had using them.

DON’T have your parent contact us. Be your own advocate!

DO write us a note if there is a circumstance that is outlying want us to be aware of. This is something which we will aspect in your application as well.

DON’T address us incorrectly or improperly in the email.

DO include your USC ID number and/or full name in your email.

Finally, DON’T ask us to edit your writing samples. We can give you advice that is general what you should take into account when writing your own personal statement nonetheless it is maybe not right for us to edit them.

Introducing Kenley staff blogger that is new

It had been simply over couple of years ago it has been that I started as an Assistant Director of Admission at USC. Wow, what a journey! I work with students from a variety of areas: Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Kansas City, and parts of Orange County and San Diego (phew!). I have actually bright hair that is red therefore the fiery personality to match, and so I am always full of energy or over for any adventure. We love to travel, explore the out-of-doors, bake anything with chocolate (lots from it!), and you can find me dancing if there is a tune that is upbeat. I am delighted to be joining the blogging team and can not wait to share a few of my insights and knowledge about the admission procedure and college life.

I grew up in Utah and lived within the many breathtaking hills in the world. I spent quite a little bit of time checking out them, but got tired of the long winters, which is why I happened to be eager to attend college in sunny Southern California. We attended Claremont McKenna university where I studied International Relations and Psychology.

I liked my college experience. I actually adored it, and that’s why I love working in higher education, specifically assisting students find an organization that is a good fit. It’s very easy to talk to potential students about USC since it is such a place that is great live and study. I have always been lucky to get results on such a dynamic, energy-filled campus. Our pupils are thinkers, academic options are abundant, and we’re located in a community that is urban one of the biggest cities in the world. I can’t wait to share more about the USC experience and also the admission process within my posts in the future!

Currently, i’m writing this website sitting inside a Peet’s Coffee in Northern California. Dining Table for one, headphones in ears, answering emails and signing down notes about my senior school visits from earlier today. For the week that is next a half, I will be located in hotel spaces and having meals without any help. Usually, there is time for you to explore the populous cities I visit so that’s nice. But the majority of this right time, the road can be tiring so I invest most of my time resting whenever you can. It’s very easy to get sick regarding the road!
For around two months of the year, 1000s of admission representatives all around the nation live this lifestyle. From the outside perspective, it seems extremely glamorous. In a variety of ways, it is a really job that is fun. It really is truly rewarding to have the ability to aid students in one of the most extremely phases that are transitional their everyday lives. It is also good having the capability to be out of the workplace. However, this element of the work can be isolating because well. It creates me appreciate my buddies, family and wife back in the home more.
Still, our mission is what is on the forefront. USC visits over 2,000 schools per year; we go to the most high schools out of any university in the nation. We’re out here searching for students that may compensate the next incoming class of freshmen at USC. It is our goal to place together a class that is exceptionally diverse year so we wish to meet all types of students. I am honored to do my part that is small in process. It brings me a sense of fulfillment to get results for the university that aligns with my own vision for education.
So seek us down. Ask concerns. Become familiar with us. We care in what we do and all we want is for you to enjoy a your preference. It’s a life that is big so that it’s important become up to date. If we look like we have been on the go in between visits, it is most likely because we have been. But we will always prompt you to feel welcome to contact us at a different time, via e-mail or phone. We think exactly what we do matters. We think it’s great. Even if it means sitting through one meal that is lonely a time ☺
